Re: elysianfields
For the record Greenfields...of course I didnt think about 'that' when it first came out in 67 - I was only 12...why I wasn't allowed to see this film. I saw it first in 1976 and I was 21 with a child and married - so yes, then I thought about it all. and I've seen it quite a few time since...~ and I'm so glad you enjoyed World According to Garp. Zany film --- Robin Williams was new (I think I remember) and I found him so interesting...but the film did touch me ~

interesting that I did not think what I would do if my mother slept with my boyfriend - I guess my imagination did not go that far in those days! I loved World Accoridng to Garp. Have a good day too! Cheers.

the beauty of the experience was suddenly coming upon the film on TV. I did not plan to watch it, but felt that by providence I was meant wto watch it, yes?

(I tried posting last night but...my comp shut down

) so as I was saying:
Actually, Greenfields ~ yes I loved this movie. I have not seen it now, for nearly 5 years...but oh...I just loved the whole setup around the scenes...the classic Anne Bancroft and the gorgeous Katherine Ross --- I believe she was quite new to the cinema? But, thinking back now, oh yes I can imagine it would be 'dull' --- I do recall now, how the ending back then (late 60's?) left me feeling ---
okay what next? (as they sat on the bus) ~ Ah but the music of Simon and Garfunkel was what made it all worth it. I also remember --- thinking back 'eww what if my boyfriend had had an affair with my mother ----and that sent me on a whole gamut of emotions. LOL...Thanks for the memory walk. Ah...old films are my fave if I am going to watch movies. I was just watching snippets of that movie "The World According to Garp" based on the John Irving novel. What a zany, quirky and yet touching film as well. ~ Have a wonderful day Greenfields. I enjoy reading your blog ~

Two things come to mind from your today's piece...
I HATE it when that happens, that somehow a brush on the wrong key wipes out minutes or hours of work, it happened to me yesterday, but instead of wiping out, it published my bit early, right in the middle. I think Blogit should have a save as you go key. Or it should save what you are writing every minute or so. Then this wouldn't happen. And on the Graduate, I loved that film, but am learning little by little not to revisit favourite films from my youth. I'm usually disappointed and can't see again what I saw then. I was Ben Hur the other day, and turned it off half way through, awful. The cinema has changed so much, in those days they never showed nasty bits, or children talking back to their parents, or explicit sex, it was a bit tame and not very real. It's better to keep favourite films in your head as favourites and not go back over them.
