Writers need networks of creative support, they need editors, they need experiences that give the work they write about a deep passion, but some management TAKES all this WAY TOO far, and they take the writer to a point of near insanity or beyond, only to exploit!  This should never be tolerated, and we all know it goes on, yet we just let it happen, and turn the other way!  The entertainment industry is plagued by this sort of conduct, and most if not all people who are in this industry KNOW that is a reality, yet very few DO ANYTHING to stop this sort of conduct.  We do not have a code of conduct for management of writers, that I am aware of, or actors, or artists in general- this is a special field that is dealt with by a special group of people without degrees in most cases who pledge that "they know what they are doing", and what they do in most cases is create a absolute MESS! The code we do have (i.e. the guild) is hard to enforce, and easy to evade.

The writer who does endure the ill manners of those management crews, and presses past it all, is rare indeed- most of them end up dead, the work they write gets revised and later exploited, and the crews all get to profit from all the really horrific forms of inhumane treatment that drove the artist to the point of no return in the first place- yet we do not talk about that filthy side of the publishing and film or entertainment industry!

In fact we act like that never happens- but in truth, it happens a lot, and we all just count the dollar bills in our bank account while the raw talent gets exploited!  As stated, the publishing industry really ticks me off, and without the writers they would not have an industry- they question is not where would we be without them, because any writer with two brain cells can learn business skills, and start a publishing company- the question is rather where can they go without the writer?

The reality is they (the publishing industry) requires the talent of a writer in order to have the audience and the readers to sell the publication that they pander!  Therefore, they ought to consider the fair treatment of the writer as a priority and not monkey around with the exploitation tatics- it is never good for a publishing business to be involved in acts of exploitation.©
