Outside

Outside

where that Dogwood lives

crawls a cat

waiting

to be let in

inside where it may eat

and eat

and never get full enough

from all the leftover

wasted food

on the floor

as the woman

sits in silence

waiting for the moon to fall

over the globe

and bring

her hope and life

back to her lonely room

she opens the door

the cat

runs

and hides in the Dogwood tree

she who looks

up

can see the eyes of that

cat

too scared

now to come in

 it might

have eaten

till itself full

kittens

 under the Dogwood

 birthed next day

 we understand

 the cat wanted in

she had a batch of kittens

to protect

from the heat

sun brought

 next day

 dogs

sniff and sniff

for the trail

looking for kittens

born under the Dogwood tree

while the woman

takes  afternnon nap

nachos crusted

over- on a plate

meet her

left foot

she gets up to use the bathroom

the cat would have

taken care of

she thinks

 swears

her way

back to bed

watching

 tree in bloom

 light of day

kissed

by prowling cat the night under a moon night-

I loved this poem,  It painted a picture and gave it life.  I saw the woman, the squalid arms, the swollen stomach, I felt abandonment, perhaps sickness and a near end; a mind refusing to give up, still creating, imagining, delighting in the dogwood tree and its blue visitor.  Bravo my friend, your poetry is only limited by our limited intellects,  you are amazing!
