haha! I agree about scoripns and the more dangerous varities of creatures. See how conveniently forgot about them? Yes, I do believe my mother did plant sone 'repellents' in the yard - some tradiitonal wisdom to keep pests away. Enjoyed your novellete. Cheers!

Greenfields, Firstly, I absolutely was mesmerized by your writing here. It was like inviting me into your home, to relax and relive some joy and sentiments with you ~ Secondly, I Love nature...I'm closer to my God when touching nature, I believe. Now, I am not afraid of all you speak of but, wise as to which ones not to let linger 'round me. That would be the dangerous spiders, a recluse or black widow (and if you get an infestation of these, you have real problems...) so, I deal accordingly. Snakes??? I may try what your mother tried, making little offerings for them, but I also plant a shrub 'round my borders...wormwood which is a bitter-root and repels snakes. I don't 'risk' as much as I used to. Scorpions, again, healthy respect for them but --- they can sting and if you're allergic you could suffer horribly, so I spray 'round to repel these. Now Lizards, one of my faves...along with the dragonfly's and mayflies and well just about any of these type animals. Ok, didn't mean to write a novel-ette~Elyse
