"There are many easier ways to make a living.  But if you have the calling -- and a modicum of talent -- none is as agonizing, or satisfying.  Hell, if it was an easy and high-paying profession there would be a helluva lot more of us."

I use to watch the show Sex in the City, not really for the content rather, it gave me a mental image of what sort of life I really wanted to achieve with my work as a writer.  I write everyday.  To me this is critical, and any writer who has a dream of making a lifestyle out of it, just has to do it everyday!  Regardless if you want to or not, you just get up and do it!  For me it is never a question of wanting to or not- I never struggle with that issue!

There are so many people however, content to exploit talent and they take full advantage of the gifts of an artist- this is just the reality of the publishing world- making it one of the most agonizing fields to enter- it is full of SCUM around each turn of every corner!  If they could write, they would not be hanging in the shadows waiting to take what others who can write and slap their name on it and sell it off!  Still, knowing that someone is getting paid for your work, even if its not you can be satisfying- as far as it being a high paying profession it would be if we could get rid of the SCUM around each turn who take our work to the highest bidder!©

I hope I am not the 90 year old version of Sex in the City, by the time my work is popular enough to afford to live in the City! I can see it now, "hey look there is that granny lady on the side on the bus who finally made it, wow she looks like a prune". I prefer to still have muscle mass when I make it as a writer!©

It's not a bad idea to get in the habit of writing down one's thoughts. Thought we

don't get paid for that, it saves one having to bother anyone else with them.

Nice inspiration

Though I write everyday and I write for a living, too, it's always inspiring to read what motivates other writers.  A nice post.

This is a great post. You wrote about the procrastination paradox and also gave some very good advice.
