- Go to Organized chaos: the writing life as practiced by notapoet
I'm with you
Write it all out, and then worry about organizing. Once the story is out on paper, it's much easier to go back and rein in at least a portion of the chaos. Too much thinking beforehand always ends up souring the story in my mind.

We think alike here. I always stress the importance of reading whether you write or not. Myself, I'm always getting lost in a good book. Although the TV is on for hours every day, I'm often so engrossed in a book that I notice the tube only as background noise.

you list one very important element here ...
READING! I am an avid reader---how can you write if you don't know how it's done?

Thanks, CrossRhoads
I like good instrumental jazz and some pretty far out stuff by the likes of Tangerine Dream, but I find both draw me into the music to the near exclusion of everything else. Oldies seem to help my mood without dragging my attention away from the task at hand. Instrumental movie soundtracks work pretty well, though. I also wish you a great day and fun in your writing.
