Ah, but that was why we tied the mats to the bumpers, majroj. As for the kitty litter; isn't that for placing in the boot to weigh the car down a bit more?

johnmcnabb....but the boad or mat flew like a bat
while the car stayed where it was at!
And the magazines that said "Keep a bag of kitty litter for traction" ought to have been shot.

Pat
Mundane sounds like a soothing place to be, Pat. Unfortunately I'll be posting more 'winter' articles. Every year I keep telling myself to take notes of the oddities that happen here in this part of Canada, and to us, but I keep forgetting. So I'm using a 'letters from America' style to write them down and remind myself.

Sira
A helmet would be a definite improvement, and fitted with a face shield to cover up his embarrassment. What is a 'short bus,' Sira?

Which is why we tied them to the fender, majroj. I'd forgotten that we used to use board, or anything else that was handy.

Here in Mundane we got a couple inches of that ball-bearing ice.
Fortunately, my broom took it off the front porch and steps so the postman could get up to put the daily junk mail in the box. Patience was my best tool for dealing with this stuff -- patience and sunshine. Online there are places to go, things to do. Reading about your weather has made me feel we dodged a bullet here in Mundane. Think spring!

I love it!
I wonder if that fellow has velcro shoes? Sort of sounds like he needs them...and maybe a helmet, to be worn at all times. Oh, and somebody better get him a monthly pass for the 'Short Bus'.

What did we do without cell phones?
I can remember putting the board or mat in front of the rear wheel trying to inch forward, then not making it and gunning hte engine, sending the mat...or board!...flying to the rear.

Re: Good story, johnmacnab
He even looked suave as he phoned, mneme, as if he'd planned it that way.

That's a sobering thought, ginnie - and he is taller, fitter, and younger than I am. A friend I have in Devon, UK, told me in December that their spring was well advanced.

If only he could see your blog, Mac!
Haha! And ice pellets are like ball bearings! And near as deadly too! I hear from Scotland that the snowdrops have been up for a few weeks!
