I heard this on the news, and I didn't want to think about it :) I'm not ready to eat insects yet, but I have a sad suspicion that they might be classified as acceptable protein and one day be used in processed foods.

Auslander, the problem is that the chooks we eat never even get to
see a grasshopper or a grub, let alone
eat one! They sit in cages, and have the tips of their beaks nipped off...

Kabu, you want the candidates to eat cockroaches? That would be cannibalism...

I might be able to stomach beetle juice or beetle broth if it was boiled and strained, but that's about it. Lord save me from the legs.

This is proof enough that the UN should be disbanded and sent out of our hemisphere. They are worth nothing from our point of view. We pay them too much Gooooo Awayyyyy Nuts!

Okay, now see here!
That's just wrong. It's wrong on so many levels, I don't even know where to start.
Knowing the UN, it shouldn't surprise me that this is the solution they come up with to battle hunger. But for the love of Pete--all those 'brilliant' minds gathered together, and BUGS is the best they can do?
Next on their 'to-do' list--spend a billion dollars to design bug hunting equipment, and distribute their inventions to the third world countries.

hahaha Nautikos......................
you gotta be kidding. I must admit though that I have eaten chocolate covered ants and grasshoppers and they were not bad. Those little ant heads did get caught in my teeth like blackberry seeds, but they were not bad (I had a toothpick. hahaha) - I was 15 years old at the time and did it on a dare. I do not believe those guys are going to go for eating the bugs - I just don't!

Well, oh, well. Although it is true that most other cultures (i.e. non-european origin) do eat and ENJOY their grasshoper diner and that some others say that giant spiders do taste in fact more like tasty crabs than chooks, and that fat grubs squashed on a piece of bread in simply delicious, I can't help but think it is the JOB of the chooks to eat the spiders and the grasshopers and the grubs. I'll stick with the chook (for now)!

Starting with $1000.00 a plate fund raising dinners for election
candidates, we suggest a menu that includes Casserole of cockroach with a side dish of moth broth!
that's my answer to the UN. anyway.

I dunno. What with all the pharmaceuticals in our water supply,
we will probably all live forever and glow in the dark, food or no. Good luck with those spiders. I wonder if they taste like chicken?
