...fair enough. I like your definition of real friends. I read the question as meaning real as in beyond words on a screen.
With your definition, I'd modify my answer to no, but leave the door open for future developments...

REAL friends?
My friends here will be real if I ever get to meet them and borrow money from them if I need it. Or, when I sit by their bed in a hospital somewhere feeding them ice chips after surgery. Or go shopping with them and tell them a pair of jeans makes their butt look big.
Right now, they are just internet friends - but sometimes that's enough.

I've met one fellow blogger and IM'd with her a lot. I'm in regularish email contact with a handful, and I Chris and I have vague plans for a boozy, stoned evening in the south at some point.

Poetic Dewdrop
I email a few people off and on, but nothing consistent. I think it would be cool if there was a better chatroom here--even though I'm not big on chatting--it would be fun occasionally since we do get to know each other a bit through our blogs and comments. I'm also sad that I don't get many comments, but then again, I realize that I get more than some other people, and I don't leave as many as I should either.
