Re:
Thank you, wigopa! (have to look up your profile!) last week when my daughter rode, her horse was fractious, but she handled him very well, the best she's ever done!

I wish you and your daughter the best in the up coming equine years ahead. It is true that is a lot of care involed with horse keeping. I have found that it is great time spent with your child. enjoy the days ahead.

Re:
Thanks, Sam!  My mother likes to tell a story about a horse she had as a youngster that she would ride under the apple trees and stand on the horses back to pick apples. I think that's the vision that sticks with me the most. Our horse dentist likes to talk about doing her homework on the back of a horse, so there is that piece, too. I think that relationship with a horse is invaluable!

Thank you, Ariala!  She really seems to enjoy the riding. I was never much for it myself, prefer to sit in the cart behind them, but to each his own!

Re: kmer
Thank you, Miss Greenfields! Riding is a good thing and so far seems to be safer than racing them!

Good for her. You are so right on the difference in care. Get ready for some real work. When my son was younger he got two quarter horses. It was so much fun to look out to the corral and watch him lay on the horse's back while he poked around. I hope she has a wonderful time when she gets her horse.

What a good parent you are to help your daughter in a big, big decision in life and the way you are helping is with such love.  I commend you.  I'm so happy she is riding well and enjoying.

When I was younger I was on a bucking bronco that go spooked...ok, well I got spooked myself therefore, did not try to ride for eons, until about 5 years ago, a gentle rancher with a very gentle mare encouraged me to saddle up and you know what?  I find they (horsies) are not all that I had frightfully imagined they were.

I enjoy your posts.  I also enjoy your lovely comments under my blog.  Thank you so much dear Writer and I will be back to follow up on this decision and outcome ~ Ely

I know what you mean.  I also grew up riding horses, but they belonged to the riding club, so we did not have to take care of them.  I think it's cool thats he can just go somewhere and wide without the responsibility of taking care of the horse, which is a fair amount of work.
