A true friend...
will never stab you in the back. I have upon occasion hurt a friend... but it was usually in providing a truth he or she was not prepared to hear or accept.

Here's a thought.....
What if those hurtful people were not "TRUE" friends at all??? Maybe they were the ones for just the time being, and not the ones to keep for a lifetime!!! I have literally hundreds of acquaintances, but only a handful of "TRUE / REAL" friends. The "REAL" ones don't purposely set out to hurt me!!! And....believe me, I have encountered many many people who claimed they were my friend, but they are no longer around me.
