The number one cause of death in pregnant women...
not just here in America but world wide, is homicide at the hands of another... usually at the hands of the spouse or father of the unborn child. Ann's situation is horrible but not uncommon. She is a brave and strong woman to have protected herself from her abuser.

How awful it must be to have a husband who is abusive and abrasive rather than being helpful and protective. I guess that happens a lot in this life. AlienFemale told a story of how her grandfather was pretty terrible to her grandmother.
