It is very interesting to me how a work can evoke different responses, or how the same impression is received differently. in this case, hagi's observation that the added text is more 'comforting' is correct, I think, but it is this 'comfort' which I find takes away from the picture. Why does it have to be 'comforting'? It is precisely the
lack of comfort (among other things) which is its attraction, at least to
me...

Great work!
I like the second version better - the layout and small letters stress the vertical dimension.
This is a brilliant idea, to add text to the piece, it gives depth and becomes more approachable by the viewer at the same time. Before, it said "I have a meaning but it's obvious that you'll never truly get it, nor will anybody else", now it says "I have a meaning, and although you don't understand it yet, there is somebody who can read this", which is much more comforting.

I was just reading about "al-
3ain" (or the evil eye) where if someone gives you "al-
3ain" you could be afflicted by severe diarrhea, shortness of breath, death in the family, erectile dysfunction, car trouble, broken friendship, divorce or any combination of the preceding. Since I don't see the "al-" part in your work, I assume that your art work is about good things.
