Re: Nautikos
You assume correctly, Krisles, I have indeed, and I'm sure they were enjoying their oysters as much as we do...

Re: Lipstick? OK But why didn't they eat their seafood meal?

Fun :) even as kids we used liquorice comfits (the red ones) to make our lips red.. must be something deep-seated in the feminine psyche...

I've no doubt it was early lipstick, either!  You have read, I assume, the theory on why women wear lipstick in so many cultures....and why it can be found so early in so many civiizations.  That would fit in nicely with the idea of symbolic thought, I would think.  And, we all know about oysters....were they part of the menu?

LOL Naut!
And they had some pretty powerful formulas of lipstick!  Have you seen the cool petroglyphs they've drawn with them?

Naut
I find stories such as the one you shared fascinating. It’s amazing to read how primitive people carved out the beginnings of social interaction, territorial posturing, and even the discovery of foods that we all now enjoy.  I’m not sure why it intrigues me – it just does.

Sheesh, they sure went to a lot of trouble compared to me going into Home Depot and buying a can of paint. Yeah, well, I didn't get the shellfish to eat though.
