To be honest, I don't know. Well, I can't even imagine how could that feel - to give your child up voluntarily, I couldn't do this. Then again, there are quite a few things I can't understand while it's kinda normal.
However, I would very likely agree to be a "surrogate" mother for my sister's child, if, God forbid, she couldn't have her own. And if someone else approached me very persuasively... No, I'm greedy, I'm determined to have as many children as I possibly can without ruining my health (or running great risk for their health), so no.
But I'd avoid to judge anybody who does this surrogate mothering out of desperation and poverty... or is somehow coerced into doing this.
Still, if I were infertile, I'd choose adoption. The people I know who have adopted children say it's just the same as having their own.

Like Kabu indicated, this falls within...
...a category of "shades of grey" because I can see both sides and it's hard to say either or is wrong. Wow, that's a tough one for me.

Justi this is such a "grey"topic and I applaude you for this type
of topic. there are so many arguments each way.
I try not to be judgemental because I never had to make such choices but for me it seams another exploitation of the poor by the wealthy. Having said that, I have done many things in my life that I never thought I would or could do.

No way will I understand a woman who can give birth and not feel like that child is part of her and have the desire to be with it. It is nothing but greed on her part, most usually there's a good deal of money involved. Shame on her, she has to answer for it at some point.

I, myself do not like giving birth, though I have birthed two fine human beings to this earth. It is an interesting concept 'surrogate mothering' is and one that I do not have to nor would I ponder, except not to pass judgement for I know there are many women who want children and want them to be as close to their own as possible. I can understand this, and I can understand those who adopt and those who give their children up for adoption. I guess it's all in the cards the Lord dealt you in this life? Great post
