Hope to hear from you soon!
Since it is well after January 10th...

As far as writing an autobiography, the possibilities are endless: journalistic, thematic (e.g. the Gospels) and anecdotal are just a few.  A fine example of the latter is Dylan Thomas' "Portrait of the Artist as a Young Dog".

Maybe this will help a little.

Hi Symphony,

I divided mine up into diffeent sections.  The Early Years; My Teenage Years; Early Adulthood; College Days; The Georgia Years and Back in Arkansas.  I wrote the book by writing essays rather than trying to make it one long thing like a novel.  I think it had about 40 some odd stories in it, which made it 73 pages long.  I could have made it a lot longer but was afraid I was going to end up with it being way to long, so I ended up not using anywhere near all the stories that I had.  Anyway that worked for me.  I hope this helps some.

Symphony...
Hi there!  Tips for writing, well, just be yourself and tell your story!

Hi Symphony
Hope you've enjoyed the kids' holidays, and isn't it nice when they go back :) The only tip I would offer, with regard to getting started, is to write your life story as it comes to you,  organised into logical chunks or sections. I find it helps to have some kind of outline before writing, because I can't always discipline myself to work on only one thing at once, and if something else comes to me I have to have a place to store it :)

Symphony Hi...I was just wondering about you :)
Nice to see you.

On the life story, I would get an autobiographical book that has a template that you like and follow that....

Your journey is certainly one worth sharing with others.  As someone already said, just start writing... you can sort it out, re-shape it, add to it, or delete things later.  Just let it spill onto the page initially.  That's what I've been taught anyway....  Looking forward to having you back.

Symphony - advice - he he
Get it all down in a first draft, let it all pour out. Then step back, and then be prepared to

work through it, redraft and sort it all out. You already have one major advantage. Your big

heart. Happy to comment at any time.

The best book I have found is 'How to Tell a Story' by Peter Rubie and Gary Provost. A second consideration would e 'Edit Yourself" by Bruce Ross-Larson. Another consideration is any critique of Toni Morrison's novels. She is a master storyteller. Her work is on a level of its own.  Good luck.  sam

I'm glad you had such a lovely Christmas.  As for your book, I'd suggest writing about whatever you feel is most important to you...You have a lot to share that could very well help others who've been in the same or at least similar situations to your own.

Other than that, I can't really offer much advice, I'm afraid.

Love to you and the children.
