Interesting...I have asked my children to bring me a gift certificate for an oil change. Fat chance I will receive that...no...they will put yet another bottle of perfume under the tree. Heck I would love to open something up that said....Good for car wash or something practical like that...

That is an interesting question. Sometimes what I lack may be what I need most. Sometimes both terms are synonymous. Yet, if I had to choose, i'd prefer to get what I need. Makes sense?

good question

I am a capricorn and practicality is my goal.  When I find myself whining about the lacking things, I always wonder why don't I ever get any of these things you see others get, something big and surprising! (Or is that only on TV,and for the Rich?)  But I'm sure if I received something like that. I most likely would not except it, because it is not something I need. The thought would be great!

Thanks too for your comment.

Excellent points

Some people do not see the difference between wanting and needing. I think it's a very important thing to keep in mind, however, and thank you for the reminder.

Also, thanks for your recent comments on my blog

ANN
I think it was Oprah I heard this said recently, 'the less you have on your plate the more you are and have.' Something along those lines.... and it rung true with me.

An_Onimous
Ever since I've been an adult, I've never really cared if I received a Christmas or Birthday or Mother's Day gift or not.  What I really want is my loved ones around me, a bit of good food, a pot of coffee, some music and singing and perhaps a good game of Pictionary or Scattergories and everyone laughing and having fun.

The more you have the more you lack
Hmmm. Sounds like the kind of belief that keeps people poor. I'd say the more you have the more you have. You can have both material and spiritual wealth. In fact I believe they go together.

I celebrate Christ's birth, so I would seek something I lack, not anything of a material nature........sam
