Re: life is such that we adopt what we like from others, their cooking, their
Thank you, callista. I'm glad you enjoy my posts. I haven't always been interested in cooking but it's grown on me. I do agree with you that imitation is the highest form of flattery. I also respect the intellectual property of others, so although sometimes I borrow a little here and there I would never go all out and rip off a whole chapter and call it my own. Give a little, take a little and we might all be happier for it.

life is such that we adopt what we like from others, their cooking, their
sayings, i am always using my grandmothers old saying, which were not her's to begin with. to imitate is the highest form of flattery.  i believe like you do, lighten up, let's just enjoy each other.  not worry about who said or did or cooked something first, because it may take us a long time to trace it back as far as it goes,   i love your posts and you make me want to be a better cook.......

When I quote I cite! I take bits and pieces from a variety of sources, especially in my Snippets & Tidbits blog, but always provide the source. And I am really not all that concerned with copy right for that purpose. However, I would never, ever pass off someone else's work as my own! That is plagiarism, which in my opinion is one of the worst and most pernicious forms of theft imaginable...

I battled with this notion prior to signing up, but this really can happen at any time anywhere whether copyrighted or not. I overcame by keeping my intensions and actions pure, and putting positive energy out there because our writing is meant to be shared. We are merely God's instruments to bring what we bring to the world.

That has been a bone of contention around this place since I have been here.  I have tried to only post my own writings and my own photos but, it is easy to fall back into sharing a quote, an anecdote, a picture that I like from off the web.  I think pretty most of us are guilty of infringement at one time or another.

I caught a guy using my stories, my name, and even my e-mail address
over on a blog about Thailand. He was a dope though. He used my e-mail address for the account, and when someone commented on the story it came back to my mail account and I follwed it back to see what the heck was going on, as I had never heard of the site before. Some people have no pride or shame really. It can happen to anyone really. -Cent
