The whole God situation is a bit more complicated than it seems
and too long to explain in this post... needless to say, God has a good reason to be permitting all this evil and soon he will set it to rights.

There have been many miracles though, afzal.
We have had only one fire related death, out of 550,000+ evacuated in San Diego County (there have been more than a million evacuated in southern California, but I don't know about deaths or injuries outside of my area). We have had no seriously injured fire fighters. There have been some deaths after the evacuation, mostly elderly, maybe due to stress -- nothing to laugh at, but the number is I believe only 5. In almost 300,000 acres burned, there have been about 1500 structures lost -- businesses and residences ... this is heavily populated area, so this could have been much worse. Only ONE arrest for looting. Our evacuation centers are full of food, water, blankets, everything anyone could need... even entertainment, yoga, massage, and people were allowed to bring their pets (they learned from Katrina) ... even horses, cows, sheep, and chickens. It's a horrible thing, I love this city more than any other, and I cry for the losses .... but I have to be proud of the amazing city and state government here that has provided for so many, and the firefighters and volunteers that worked for days without sleep to save houses and people and animals. There are miracles, soooo many. Our spirits are high in San Diego, afzal, we are okay. This is a very loving, united community, and we are always here for each other. I don't believe in god per se, but the universe was looking out for many of us and we all looked out for each other... and continue to. Have faith, friend.
