I consider myself forewarned, I think.  I haven't had the pleasure of reading Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency yet.  In fact, I can't remember ever seeing a copy of it anywhere.  But I'll add it to my list of stuff to watch for so I can read.  Thanks for reminding me it's out there somewhere.

Thanks, saul_relative
for the good advice that I plan to keep following.  I don't know any other way than to keep trying.  The alternative seems too much like ash-spreading time to me.

Be careful reading Douglas Adams...
You just might think you can actually fly, which is better than Mark Knopfler.  From Dirk Gently's Holistic Detection Agency.

Woo-hoo!!! The lottery. Oh, yeah. Love the lottery. LOL. Seriously,
notapoet, you keep on writing.  You're bound to place something out there that will catch on...

W_E, give this a listen:
Cough, cough, groan, hack, ohhh.  Did I mention I'm having a sudden extended relapse, and that I wear glasses?  The prognosis is not good.  I may be laid up for months.

See there, you CAN do math when you get motivated enough!  And please don't throw whatever you just picked up at me.  I'm really quite fragile.  And you wouldn't want to hit a sick man wearing glasses, would you?

I've got one word for you (and please note that I'm not talking in the 3rd person - I don't, when I'm pretty sure of what I'm about to say!) ......

I HATE YOU!

err hmm, I think that's 3 words actually!

Heh, heh, heh, W_E
That was pretty good.  How 'bout walking and chewing gum -- at the same time?

now THAT piece of info didn't help ONE BIT!!!!!!!!!!!!! ... I'm hopeless at Math and I STILL have a hard time performing other complicated tasks like tying shoes and getting dressed by myself!

I'm sorry, W_E
But I can't help it.  I seem to have inherited a freakish skill with numbers from my Dad, and have even passed it on to my son.  If it's any comfort to you, a high percentage of the people who can throw numbers around in their heads like we do have a hard time performing other complicated tasks like tying shoes and getting dressed by themselves.

Purty good, Tony
But I bet you didn't have a six-hour afternoon nap on top of that.  But then, you weren't sick as a dog.  I'm bright eyed, but my bushy tail is starting to drag a little.

richinstore,
Thanks for stopping by again, as well as for the health tip.

Thanks, Soul_Builder
for the tip on Clive Barker.  I've always meant to read something by him, but somehow never have that I remember.  I guess it's time to take a trip back to the library and to start haunting the used book outlets again.  I've read enough Koontz now to see where your evaluation comes from.  But I still enjoy some of his recent work even though he has become a little self-indulgent.  So is King at times.

Oh no, just when I thought I was enjoying your post (you know the quality time with your granddaughter and all that) .... you said that unholy bit!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yikes! ....

I was good at math

Sorry notapoet - I don't like you anymore!

Try WEAVEWORLD by Clive Barker, and his other masterpieces. He is the best! Koontz deteriorated after his initial super-excellence. King has his style as does Straub. I have seen King's movies on TV as well as Koontz's!
