There was a time when business did care about their workers and consumers. Today there is a blatent factor that tells you they do not care. No live customer service! This was the first earmark of business over consumer.

I Didn't Know This ...
... but I can honestly say I am not surprised.  Big business -- not just Walmart -- is most certainly not out for the good of the people.  It never has been and as time goes on it will just become more selfish, more money-grubbing and more shameful in its luxury.  Unfortunately, because big box stores have closed the great majority of affordable smaller businesses, most people won't have the luxury of refusing to shop there.  Your article was very well done.

Re: I suppose it is exactly the same here in Australia. pretty sad stuff.
Kabu, I don't know some of the countries have a strong work support like Germany they have to pay them for all their work and give them 31 holidays per year. I imagine this is true all over Europe but I don't know about Australia. How are you doing lady. I pray you are healing.

It is really too bad that we don't get together and boycott. Too many people are either uncaring or unaware.

Soooo true!  I quit shopping at WalMart when they went to the self-checking option, and tried to make me use it...cutting out jobs and making me do their work for no lower prices than they have at the full-service lane....just the principle of that pissed me off!  It's a shame that, in so many communities, they are the only place with the selection they carry....the only hope is that people will become more willing to pay for ethical business practices and supporting their communities - and that is going to take a "grass roots" effort....like blogging here about it! Thanks!

I was simply in disbelief at how they stood there and lied. People who treat their employees poorly are very low in my book. Yes this piece showed all the lies they put out. Their employees gave 6 million dollars to charity with such poor wages and the Waltons gave a paltry amount less than a hundred thousand or some such. They are rotten to the core.

This seems to be an ongoing and increasing problem, but it does not seem to be very troublesome to Wal-Mart.  Global Insight was comissioned by Wal-Mart for ads and their report stated that Wal-Mart saves American families $2,500 yearly.  Their new slogan as of this month is "Save Money Live Better".  There must be an awful lot of people who think that  saving $2,500 a year is more important than the company being decent to its employees.  I have never been much of a Wal-Mart shopper.  I think perhaps I will make that even much less than I ever was (like maybe never).

Walmart, I worked for! I researched them online too. A sleazy outfit which changed life in America! Thanks for this!

I have the documentary on my TV hard disk. I will watch it again after the ballgame lol. I will find the details and I am sure you can pick it up somewhere. It showed where a $14.95 item cost $.32 to make. I believe in profit but that is outrageous! We have almost no alternatives here.

In our small town of 7,000 people it is difficult to find many stores. However they are building more now.

I was in business for 35 years. I do know one is not in for the social interaction; however, when you are dishonest, cheat your customers and harm your community you are not a decent business either. Hillary will do as she always sleep with them. They are the best of Arkansas buddies. Yes the dividends are up! You and I are helping that to be so if you are living here in America. Germany does not see them the same way. There they have to pay the employees for the whole time they work, they get 31 days a year vacation and all are full time. Here most are not full time and no vacation days.

Justi, I want to see this documentary to show my husband. He drags me
to Walmart once or twice a month and every single time I'm there I get frustrated with service and the mindset in that place. I think the last five times I've been there I said, "I hate this place," but darn it their prices are good.  If hubby wants to go to Walmart, I think he's just gonna have to go alone.  I can't handle the bad karma attacks I feel when I'm in there!  It's a cursed store...(except for those darn good prices, LOL)

I’ve never really liked Walmart because its always so crowded

and so I very rarely go there.  But they do seem to know how to conglomerate and market goods in a fashion that is cheaper and organized in a way that many people seem to like.  The stock generally pays a very good dividend.  Walmart is a business that is being run for a profit.  It is not a social organization and not the government.  I’m not sure that other Corp’s, like say McDonalds, pays that much better, do they?  I really don’t know that much about it, these are just my thoughts.  Anyway, I’m sure Hillary will tax them out the yin yang soon enough anyway!

You do not know how great it is to see your name on my post. Thank you! I am so glad you are better. You and I see eye to eye on America as America was and can be again. I will encourage as many as possible not to shop there. Be careful and rest plenty.

This is why I so despise WalMart. The problem is America loves their Walmart prices and become conditioned to paying them that anything like the good old fashioned IGA or A&P are going out of business or already are! I will say there area a couple places where I know WalMart is not welcomed. I do not shop WalMart or Sams Clubs. I was in a Sam's Club about a month ago....it's too much bulk for R and I...

I can see where the cycle is with these types of chains...not good dear lady!
