Yes, not many people seem to vote for spiders :) I wouldn't want one running across my hand either.

No tarantula photos for you then... of course I wouldn't do that. I'll look in on you later.

I can't say I like them, but they don't bother me. You just have to be careful; there were redbacks on the underside of the garden chairs the other day. I hadn't thought about them being useful.. the lizards seem to do quite a good job with insects too. (it's wild-life haven here..)

They aren't that bad:) unless you're a fraidy-cat.. my mother hates them all, of any kind.

Yes, scary but relatively harmless.. the huntsman is fast, and it's bite is "rare, but painful" (- that's comforting?).

It might have something to do with the large poster in the garage, which shows all the dangerous ones..!

I've well and truly lost track of who'e been pecked and who hasn't - that's what you get for being AWOL. And you are very welcome; I'll read you again later now that I'm catching up.

Thanks! - I never thought of it as science.. I forgot to include 'the spider formerly known as incy-wincy' (I can't take credit for that quip, it was from a friend of mine).

I see you were commenting a bit ago. I thought you'd have something new for me to read. But you must be having too much fun somewhere else to write.

Hello Mneme -
Aren't they horrible to look at. And then there's the motion, which is, well, creepy is a good word to describe it! Glad we only get little ones over here!!

Well you followed Dave's instructions well - mentioning you've been "pecked". I forgot to do that. Thanks so much for taking the time to read some of my poems, mneme. Your comments are always so thoughtful and kind.

As .Dave says, this is a nicely constructed web of a poem...
Congrats to .Dave, too, for instigating it. This one belongs in a science book it so neatly and poetically explains Spider potential...

Mneme, I've enjoyed my quick little tea-break into Blogit. First Brian's piece, now yours.
Great stuff. Back to work now and read you soon. I'll just click your link first to see that spider.
