how about semi-discovery, semi-obscurity, balance.

All that daring of this and that, well, I only agree with the being yourself part. I do that the older I get and wish that I had done it younger, but the airless, breathless part is deeper than I want to dive, I'm afraid.

Surface surfing works for me, though I do try to understand the whole world while avoiding understanding myself. Works for me, or not.

also.. I know full well those two fears (of being 'not discovered' and of being 'discovered'). One of those impossible dilemmas, like philosophy.. there are no wrong answers. Possibly there are no right answers either.

I agree.. art is experiment and daring. I've written poetry I never, ever envisaged myself writing, and a lot of that is down to this place, where I've read so much that is good.  It's also down to the muddle that my life is now, but that's by the by.

Azur, my phrase for that is "Drinking from a fire hydrant"
You're dying of thirst, find that hydrant wrench, spin off the 4 1/2 inch cap, position you face, open your mouth wide, crank it open...and your head winds up bouncing along the street a block down the hill.

Wow, Azur! I love this new trend on your blogs. Food for thought,
sorry about the cliche, but ...

Discovered and found
are not always the same thing. I have two great fears. One is to never to be discovered as an author, the other is to be discovered as an author.

Sometimes being discovered is not what one, or one's world, needs.
That's what makes art scarey.
