Never mind all that other stuff; just consider the possibility that there might actually be more dimensions than we thought...

you've lost me.. although, maybe it's neutrinos that wake me so early, on their way to who-knows-where. Interesting, though.

Re: Wonderful! Bravo! Okay, now you've struck another nerve! I love this stuff.
Chyrlann, I'm glad you get a kick out of this! And your Dad's combined interest in theology and science is certainly unusual, but it works for me, even though I am a staunch agnostic. I have always maintained that the insights of physics and the idea of God are not at all incompatible, as long as we don't insist on a literal reading of scripture...

Wonderful! Bravo! Okay, now you've struck another nerve! I love this stuff.
my father was an electrician by trade...mostly; working his way from utilityman to supervisor when he retired, for the city...but I'm rattling because I'm so excited. My father's two most exciting interests were theology and physics. I've been reading around and delving into theology and my spiritual self long enough and found my niche in my self and God self and all that is hunky dory..but I love the anticipated theories of time/space continuim, travel, etc., because it will bring spirituality & science together in a phenomenal collision and create the next big-bang theory.....no, don't get me started on this now!

You've opened an entirely new can of worm-holes here! Hey I forgot, you were the first writer to get me started on the exploration of new spiritual frontiers with your series on Islam vs Christianity! Okay, Cap'n beam me aboard!

I no longer smoke, though I will confess I once did! Now, brandy is a different matter, LOL! But I do find it interesting that we're finding things out on our own, even before Jesus will tell us all about it...

In a sense, that isn't important. The only thing you need to remember is that there may indeed be additional dimensions, and I emphasize the
'may'. For decades now some very bright people have mucked around with string theory, without the slightest evidence that it had a relation to the 'real' world, other than being mathematically beautiful. And now there's a hint that there may be more to it...

This makes good cigar and brandy conversation; however, I already knew this without evidence that I would not understand. Jesus will come take us for a tour long before the riddle would be solved. But it is excellent hyper-inetellectual information.

Re: Hugely entertaining in an informative way...the possibilities...profound...
Thanks, t william. I find this very exciting, though I'm not at all sure what the practical consequences of this knowledge would be, if indeed there can be any. But I'm sure someone said something similar when he first noticed this thing called fire...

Frankly, I don't think we're going anywhere when we dream, but pretty well stick around. Having said that, Roger Penrose strongly suggests that brain functions involve quantum processes.
If that were the case, it might be possible that we might also be somehow 'connected' to such (as yet unproven) other dimensions. But it is not likely we would ever 'know' or 'experience' that, or we would do so routinely. What people claim to 'know' about other dimensions is easily explained by our knowledge of normal psychological processes, and belongs into the realm of folk tales and myth...

Interesting thought, that! Cockroaches were around long before we were, and will likely still be around after we have collectively shuffled off this 'mortal coil', as Hamlet has it. But scary though they may be, let us not credit geeks with powers they do not possess...

Re: OK as a blonde I think I can ask this question for us all
Kabu, you gorgeous blonde, let me answer as succinctly as I can:
1) You don't really want me to start!
2) No
3) 'Why' is not an allowable question
All you have to do is remember one thing: there may (and I say may) actually be dimensions other than our own...

Where do you think we go when we dream?
Is it impossible that it's another dimension? A parallel universe of sorts? I kinda think this might be possible. Also that in the unreachable core of knowledge in our brains, we are familiar with other dimensions. Maybe I'm wrong, maybe having our waking brain stuck in one of those other planes of existence does not show up as delusional psychosis.

Is all of this a good thing or an indication that some geek is going to accidently rip a hole in our dimension and change us all into a new species...like "homo cockroachus"???

I think string theory...
Is a little like my extension cord theory...no matter how carefull you wind them up, the next time you want to use one, it will be hopelessly snarled. Now we know that parts of it enter other dimensions to form these boy-scout proof knots.
