Yes, shelly
It is nice to dream.  Especially about all the good one could do with that much money.  And there might even be enough left over to indulge in a killer sound system and the rebuilding of a long gone old music collection.

Actually that can of worms was pretty well split at both ponds, er papers.  I guess it's possible that notapoet is a bad boy as far as all, except maybe the readers, are concerned.  Maybe that is why after being rehired by the paper in '98, supposedly to take over as the new sports editor, I was suddenly passed over and reduced to the status of piecework freelancer again.  Well, you live and learn, and sometimes you stick by your guns anyway.  I suppose sometimes I should keep my big mouth shut.

You're probably right.  I may have hit a little too close to home.  But there was a time when the publisher and general big cheese of this same little paper, the late lamented Sam Ragan, welcomed pot shots at all media, including his own paper.  The paper is slicker, more eye appealing, and perhaps even better written than it used to be.  But somewhere along the line it lost a lot of its soul.

It's nice to dream though, isn't it?

Just think of all the good you could do with all that $$$...
I hope the winner was someone who'll do good things with it, someone who needs the boost. And now to the important stuff: what your editor rejected - that you thought was the more interesting of the ones you sent - he may also have thought it was interesting. But his advertisers or the publisher/owner may have been a bit stung by what you said. There's this thing about the "bidniss" -- don't open a can if there might be worms,

Hi, Dreamgirl
Too bad.  If it wasn't meant to be me, it would have been nice if someone I know had hit it big.  I heard the lump sum payout would be a mere $140 million.  Even after taxes that would be a nice chunk of change.  A lot of deserving people could get a helping hand with that kind of money.
