Good for you.  That makes you ahead in the game that really counts -- personal satisfaction.  I regret some of the times I let the quest for the almighty dollar get in the way of my enjoyment of simple pleasures that really cost little.

That sounds good to me all the time, notapoet. Regardless of my age, these
are the things that I've always done and wanted to do.  Still do and I'm 44...

You're right, of course.  It's something I've become more aware of as my own life has shifted into a more leisurely and comfortable pace, relatively speaking.  I'm looking forward to even more time to spend on the things that matter to me now, rather than what used to matter so much when I was gnawing away at life with all of the other rats.

The 'rat race' turns you into a 'rat' with all the implications!

That's okay by me.  Although the body is growing older, I still like to think of myself as an overgrown kid.

Thanks, Irish
I've thoroughly enjoyed most of my life to date, except for not taking enough time to smell the roses at times.  I admire people who always make time to enjoy the small pleasures of life.

Notapoet.....I always stop and smell the roses....
Ask my daughter as I embarrass her sometimes when I actually do. Your thoughts on your retirement sounds lovely....good luck on your novel and the baseball book.
