I started to say that I can't ever remember being in a parade, but just in time I remembered that I was in a lot of them while stationed in Germany. It seems that the top brass thought I looked good at the head of a column marching in formation. Every time there was any kind of official function I got tapped to appear. Other than that, I've covered a lot of parades in my day for various newspapers. The first parade I ever covered was at the Bachfish Festival in Worms, Germany in 1968. I think I've still got some of the pictures.

Hi, TAPS.
I figured it might. We're not that far apart. Contemporaries, if you will. I hope it was a decent mix of the good, as well as the bad. I wouldn't want to turn your day into a downer.

Two of my pet theories, which usually don't set to well with most people, are that 1) the good ol' days weren't as good as we insist on remembering them to be, and 2) things today aren't nearly as terrible and hopeless as we make them out to be.

Even though my sixties were spent in the UK and relatively
unaffected by the events in the States, I have to agree that to my knowledge they definitely weren't all sweetness and light as you well know first hand

.Dave.
The sixties were remarkable and memorable, but time has shifted the recollections of many to less unpleasant aspects. Still, it was not that morbid while living through it. A lot of fun times and life lessons mixed in with the bad.
