He certainly got straight to the point about smoking deterrants.

Re: a sure fire way to never want a cigarette again
Cantey and his light banter. That's why I like him!

Ouch, cantey_1975
I can see where that would do the trick.  I hope it wasn't a personal experience.  The worst I've done is set the old 'stache on fire while trying to light up in the wind, or trying to get one last drag out of a burned out cigarette butt too short to relight.  Burned fingers trying to remove a cigarette stuck to the lips is no fun either.

a sure fire way to never want a cigarette again
light a cigarette, then flip it around and put the lit end into your mouth.

Thank you, sir for reading and deeming it interesting.  I had my doubts, but nothing ventured, nothing gained.

For more than 40 years I could say the same thing, and I'm not out of the woods yet.  But the length and quality of my remaining life is more of a concern at the moment than taking a deep drag, no matter how much I want the latter.

Thanks, Irish
It hasn't been easy, particularly when things get hectic like yesterday and today.  And I don't think I'm ever going to quit wanting a cigarette.  But hopefully it'll be one of the many things I want that are no longer a realistic part of my life -- like expecting life to be fair.  Hey, a good life is dealing with all the peaks and valleys without going crazy because of the disappointments.  Small pleasures and little victories are worthwhile, too.

Notapoet....I am proud of you...congratulations....
everyday you don't smoke is a compliment to your will and commitment. As for the whole deal of your story getting swiped out from under you I would have been soooo angry...you handled it great though.  Good luck on breaking the habit hope you succeed.
