Thanks for stopping by. I hope the "Wow" was for the content of my post and not for the grammatical error I just discovered. I'll have to go correct that before I pay you a return visit.

The book sounds interesting both because of the character you described and the dedication. I've known characters like that and am trying to wrap them up into a single character for a story idea I've got. Let me know if it turns out to be a worthwhile read. I'm always interested in how other writers handle the same types of characters and themes that I use.

Just found an advance copy of a book that's coming out soon...
It's titled "Grub." Think of grub street poets, etc., and of women who work as chefs to support their writer hubbies... So far there's an obnoxious intellectual lead character who makes nasty sarcastic critical comments about other writers at a workshop, steps on his own tongue while trying to impress an editor he believes can make his career a go, and has to borrow money to get home from the Blue Ridge conference to New York where he more or less lives off his roommate. What got me to pick up the book was its dedication -- "to every writer with an unpublished novel."

Thanks, afzal
I'm not as pretty as a flower, but I was probably drooping like that when I crashed along with my laptop.
