At times over the past two weeks I've wanted to pulverize my laptop with a sledgehammer. But then I'd have to try to find a working typewriter to prepare my manuscripts. As aggravating as computers can be, spare me the days of typewriter erasers, correction tape, and whiteout. They ain't perfect, but they are the best tool for producing finished copy available today. I'm just afraid I'll never qualify as a true computer nerd and be able to handle problems like mine as if they were nothing. Or afford a new $3,000 plus computer every couple of years or less. I do like the image of the duck, though.

Computers are the curse of the nerd-oriented class.
Some joker used to say work is the curse of the drinking class, but I couldn't think of a clever parallel -- But I have a mental image of the duck with a sledgehammer ready to smash a computer. The blurb "hit any key" that was popular in the old days of DOS...

Yeah, a slow computer is a big aggravation. I hate sitting in front of a screen waiting on the damned thing to do what I want it to. But at least mine hasn't crashed so far this morning.
