Our heat wave broke for a couple of delicious days. Then it started heating back up for another run at 100+ days. The local weather forecasts said it might break again over the weekend. I hope so.

I'm just the other way around, I can't do anything in extreme cold except try to get warm. Heat, at worst, only makes me sluggish.

It's always even hotter on the Carolina coast, but somehow not as uncomfortable. I think it's all the wind and water along with anticipation of heat that makes it so different. I haven't made it to a beach since a Writers' Retreat at Roanoke in '03. Sigh...maybe next year.

Notapoet....Carolina heat....oh yes it is hot....

I'm partial to the ocean LOL. Bet it was miserable training in it though....thanks for sharing, agree about the song "Boots".

Actually, I rather like rainy days, unless they're hurricane force, blow the roof off type of rainy days. I used to love to walk in the rain bareheaded (except in the winter months). Then it felt good. Now I'd probably get pneumonia. We're in serious need of rain around here, so I'd appreciate it if you'd send us some of yours.

It sounds like you're experiencing more heat than we are in the Carolina's. I suppose it's relative to what you're used to. It was a string of record breaking days for us last week with a couple or three more due this week. A friend and I went tramping up and down snowy mountains looking for a bar near Berchtesgaden one winter night. I thought my feet would never thaw out when we finally found the place. Give me the heat over that any day.

Hi Bruce - yep, I no longer enjoy the heat either - but like you, it's

still better than cold. Maybe you'd have enjoyed our very poor summer better - rather a lot of rain, and very few genuinely hot days. I hope it gets a little better when I go on holiday for a week in about 10 days' time...

Boy can I relate to this!

We've had a heat wave well in the hundreds for over a month now and shows no sign of letting up...... I used to love the sun..... maybe I'm getting too old! Still, I s'pose it beats having to go to work on skis!

The heat is rougher on me as I age, but I'll still take it over the cold. As far as my army days are concerned, though it was pretty miserable at the time, all of us miserable guys had plenty of company and pretty much made ourselves make the best of the situation. Between combat and the things we used to do for fun it's a wonder any of us survived this long.

Nancy was one of my favorites as a young fella. I always wished she would have done more singing and acting. The stuff she did with her Dad was nice.

I used to do pretty good in the heat, but not anymore. Fun post to read. I'm sure it wasn't fun at the time it wa happening.
