Oh yes!
I know the syndrome.  But, as you and some some others have said, we all have different ways of working, and it's our expectations that mess us up.

Getting kids to help can be frustrating...
Until they get old enough to be of real help.  But what the bleep do I know?

Troosha, love your story. Is your daughter 25?

Living
Ain't that the truth - that we are all unique and different.  My daughter would have "helped" in a similar manner; distracted by this and that.  Once when we were moving I asked her to make a dent on packing up her room.  About an hour later I went to check on her progress only to find that she was putting 500 or 1000 piece jig saw puzzles together (she was good at it).  When I asked what the $#%* are you doing she replied "I didn't want to pack the puzzles if they were missing any pieces so I thought I might as well put them together".  Personally.... I would have just counted the pieces.
