My favorite are all of his 'Dirty Harry' movies!
Unpolitically correct and cynical, but not over the top. Movies like that are not being made anymore.

Re: I have to say each movie is my fave--- I know wimpy answer
The Good, Bad, Ugly, was my favorite until Clint made The Unforgiven. Your answer isn't wimpy and there is no wrong answer. Thanks for your reply,  Guy

Re: Clint East Wood .....Best Movie.

I am very impressed with his ability to hit the ground running, whether directing or writing, or producing, or trying to do something that even he doesn't know if he can, until he DOES!

Steve McQueen is a very good analogy. Try to put their universal appeal into words, and the resulting words fail to do justice to the subject. Thank you for your comment. I'm glad to know you.  Guy AKA Northsage45

Re: northsage_45

Jose Wales is an excellent choice! Chief Dan George stole that movie, if anyone could steal one from Clint! Just like the old gal and Clyde did in "Every which way but loose." I still think that the grity desparate daily grind of most people's lives during the times in which "The Unforgiven" took place, was portrayed with a realism that was palpable.

I like the way you write, you have a real talent for stream of consciousness writing. I'm glad to meet you and as the french gendarm (Claude Raines?) said in "Casa Blanca", "This could be the start of a beautiful friendship." Thanks for taking the trouble to comment.   Guy

Clint East Wood .....Best Movie.
What I like about his style is how is always calm and poised..... no swagger or flair but businesslike. To me , his best movie is DJANGO..... one of his earlier westerns. I like it because in this role he was beaten up pretty badly and his hands crushed. He didn't slink away with his tails between his legs. Using his mouth, he tied a shotgun to his hands and mowed them all down. The movie house roared in support with every bad guy he took out. Great actor in the class of Steve McQueen, Bruce Willis, Sean Connery.

Pale Rider is pretty good. My favorite part is at the end, when Preacher finally comes face to face with the emaciated evil marshal and the marshal knows him. He doesn't mention a name, thus keeping Eastwood's man with no name character in tact, but hisses "You!" Of course the audience knows Preacher is no preacher, but this implies there's something truly villainous in his unmentioned past.

However, my favorite Eastwood movie is Outlaw Josey Wales. Those damn redlegs just won't leave him alone. I especially liked Chief Dan George's sense of humor, a side of "Indians" seldom seen, if ever, in American westerns. Another interesting note is how Wales is supposed to be the man who rides on his trail of vengence alone, but as the movie progresses, he collects a ragtag group of individuals and forms a family.
