Not intentionally, Mary
When they are walking him intentionally they are going to pitch out of his power zone.  But sooner or later someone is going to make a mistake and accidentally serve up a fast one that becomes number 755.  Then it'll happen again for number 756.  After that it will be back to business as usual till late in the season when no one will want to be the pitcher who served up his last home run -- that one will be the record until next season.  At his age there is always the possibility he may change his mind and not come back for another year.  So the last one he hits this year could be the home run record for quite a few years to come.  No one is going to want to throw that one.

Sorry you missed out on some of your snooze time, Tony.  It rarely happens to me because I've been an early riser ever since my 1079 days in the military.  The calls I always hated were from telemarketers (and, I must admit, bill collectors) late in the evening.  I hate people trying to sell me something I don't want.  And when it's a bill collector I always tell them the same old truth:  you'll get yours as soon as I get mine.

notapoet - You think they'll ever pitch to Bonds for the record?

Thanks.  Although it was probably my briefest post in this category this year.  Maybe you guys are trying to tell me something.

Tony
Listening to music, particularly rock oldies from the fifties and sixties, is also high on my list.  Boredom is not often a problem for me as long as I have something to read available.  TV is primarily background noise for me most of the time.  I know it's a waste of electricity, but I don't care for total silence that much.  Most of the TV I catch is when I'm taking a break from my reading or writing and get interested in whatever happens to be on.

PS: Re your post yesterday about getting a wrong number call, I was
woken this morning by one at 7.30 am- they rang twice, so I had to get up just in case it was important news and switch on my cell phone. but it was a wrong number,as my landline calls mainly are. Consequently I'm tired as I needed at least another half an hour's sleep....

Hi Notapoet -
I'm very choosy with both movies and books. I tend to like music more - it's less of a strain on my brain. Light subject matter for films may not be an intellectual strain, but there is a strain nonetheless, which comes from boredom and wanting to do something less sedentary. I rarely watch TV drama either.
