Great post - only thing I might disagree with, is that religion "makes" people behave in ignoble ways - but as for making people "proud" of their religion, you're right on targert - one of the "7 Deadly Sins," is (false) Pride!

GOD provides a powerful SHIELD 4 all good-&-bad-intentioned.I don't follow
what Afzal was asking...we ought not be surprised that people need powerful shields and POWERS (lawyers, soldiers, politicians, revenge-seekers) when they set out to gain (goods or an advanatge). shalom and salaam

Foliage Gold - So they can use the cloak of religion to manipulate people
who come to them for help and who are down and depressed so badly that they will never tell anyone that they were abused, afterall, how could they and who would believe them, or worst still WANT to believe them? Without this cloak they would just be regular scum-bags, but they use it to deceive people - its a sick world I know. Just remember these two quotes and you can't go wrong:
1) The road to Hell is paved with good intentions
2) Tis the Devil that hides behind the cross....
(ps these people are a minority...)
