Lovely post. I could have written this. I too have a dear, dear friend in the Netherlnds called Agnes. We met in Denmark in 1980 and have been in close touch since then. We too exchanged letters. Now, I do email and she calls every month. Every now and then I get a beautiful card from her with her neat hadwriting. It thrills me. And, I sometimes think how ironic it is that I call my blog "Letter from India". Cheers.
