I wish you luck in giving up smoking. I know that when I do it's going to be tough. But, since I don't eat all that well these days and have been unattached since the ex walked out (so much for great sex), maybe I won't miss them as much as I fear. Thanks for dropping by. It's okay to capitalize it, although I understand there is another "Notapoet" who really is a poet and uses the capital letter. As for Chairman Mao, I'm not sure what he died of. I don't think I paid any attention at the time, figuring he was plenty old enough to kick the bucket. Our American football was derived from rugby and it's probable that baseball is an Americanized version of rounders, so you may know more about our sports than you think. I'm sorry the novel didn't work out. Maybe you should go back and give it another go. Sometimes that is all it takes to get started again.

Thank you for the thoughtful comment. I agree with your thoughts about both sex and violence, which is part of the reason for the title of this blog which includes little of either -- a statement in itself, as well as an attention getter. You're the second acquaintance with a nickname change to catch me offguard tonight. It was good to hear from you again. I'll stop by to see what you're up to these days.

On the smoking
I am quiting and find that the perscription Chantix is helping to curb the cravings. I tried several times to quit cold turkey but only succeeded for the most ithink was 16 months-through a pregnancy and nursing and then started up again. I agree they are great after a great meal and great sex.

Hi notapoet - I remembered not to capitalize it.
I skipped over the NL bit, I confess. Only coz I know nothing of the subject. I did do a small amount of research on baseball and on American football a couple of years ago as background for some wartime American characters in a novel I never got very far with. I learned about Lou Gehrig in particular. I think I read recently that Mao died of Gehrig's disease!

A thoughtful article. As for your blog title, "Sex & Violence Sells", I don't find either to be entertaining when used as emphasized selling points, as I do care about the well-being of others and don't wish to see them hurt. I quit ordering the television when they got too graphic. I know it's acting, but they didn't sell it to me.
