Notapoet - You're right. Forgiveness is probably the toughest thing ever.
rewarding too, as you said.

Doing to others as I would have them do to me is my way of giving love and kindness because that is what I would like from others.  I'm not Christian enough to turn the other cheek more than once, but I do believe in an ethic of giving, loving, and forgiving that is hard to live up to, but ultimately very rewarding.

Notapoet - thanks. Just remember my friend that everyone you meet is
on their own journey of discovery and often people (as you said) have an attitude of "do it to them before they do it to me". Well, these people need love sent to them not hatred. Be the bigger person Notapoet, send love and watch how lives around you change...thanks for thanking.

I like the thought about "leaving the world a better place."  Doing good to others, in my mind, fits in well with this.  Unfortunately much of the world seems to take a "do it to them before they do it to me" attitude.  I'm pleased to make your acquaintance, as well as pleased with the idea that I may have inspired you to some degree.  Thanks for stopping by with a thought provoking comment.

I BELIEVE: Well expressed but does not work these days as OTA pointed out
in her comments. Some people like to be beaten whipped etc, which wouldn't be good for others. I think the best thing is to realise this: We humans are here for such a brief, brief moment after travelling down the ceasless, timeless and endless corridors of eternity. So, people must love themselves and get over themselves (paradoxical I know) and move forward leaving the world a better place for the others who follow. My mantra (mind instrument) is this: I AM BECAUSE YOU ARE (african proverb). Thanks for inspiring me - I'm going to upload one right now because of you!

OTA.
You have a point there.  However, I still think that even people who take poor care of themselves would like to be treated well.  Except, perhaps, for masochists.  But this is going to require some further thought.  Thanks for the input.

Notapoet, The thing with the golden rule is that some folks treat themselves so bad,, and then they apply that same treatment to others..sigh..Its a wonderful rule if we can just remember it starts with self.. how well do we treat ourselves is a good barometer of how we will treat others. ~Peace, OTA
