I know EXACTLY what you mean!
I've done similar things on more than one occasion. I just
knew it couldn't be him when I when I saw him sitting and drinking coffee or walking quickly through a dense crowd, but I had to hope.

I never saw anyone that reminds me of Dad
I never saw anyone that reminds me of Dad other than my oldest brother. He looks quite a bit like he did while still living. I hadn't seen anyone that reminded me of Mother either until we moved into the house that we live in now. The old lady that lived across the street from us looked enough like her and had the same mannerisms too that they could have been twins.
That lady had to go to a nursing home a couple of years after we moved in and died a few years later. I still think about her now and then because of how much like Mother she looked.
Be sure and tell the man how much like your dad he looks if you see him again.

Whacky, My dad passed on, 11 years ago. Even now I see people
resembling my father, or having some of the same mannerisms. I used to freak. Now, I smile and usually tell my family about the 'encounter', and they tell me about their close encounters with 'Dad' It's like A&B said , next time talk to the person
