I think it's cautionary, mneme. It's all about assimilation and keeping
up with the times. Nothing wrong with that. Of course, you don't have to, but you only have yourself to blame if you're left behind and confused...

I thought it was pretty funny, johnmacnab. I first thought it was going to
be a stab at illegal immigrants, but was I fooled. I beleive a rudimentary understanding of a host nation's language is required, but only if you plan on staying an extended length of time. I wouldn't go to Germany without first learning several basic phrases in German.
