Mademoiselle, symbiotic relationships are rare
The relationship with this editor is ideal. A couple of quick exchanges before I file (she writes emails in the subject line). One 10 minute call from her fine tune the story. Of course I go through real pain and great self-doubt to get to the point where I can file a story that requires only 10 mins of tweaking.

Yeah, discovering (plus cultivating) a symbiotic relationship with an editor is one of the more difficult tasks for a writer. And harder still is developing enough confidence to cast aside the demons of self-doubt. Or, at least, ignore their advice.
Sometimes I think the so-called experts actually are experts.
