Justi, my friend....................

I aim to please.  hahaha  Yes, I'm doing ok and I'm exercising and lifting weighs (starting to look like a Suma wrestler)  hahaha.  I'm keeping my strength up and trying hard to stay healthy.  One shouldn't have to work so hard at it.  You know?  If I could just breathe, but I've had trouble with it ever since I came out of the hospital in Feb.  Well, I keep asking God to fix it, but he doesn't and I work hard at it .  I'll just have to try harder, I guess.

Take care, dear lady, and God bless.  Love your emails.

Well, Mary,.................

Offy doesn't mean cole slaw (although mine is pretty good), she's talking about macaroni salad.  If she's not asking for that, she's wanting chicken and homemade noodles.  I think Sally likes FOPC's (food other people cooks)  hahahaha  She's a mess!

I don't really have a recipe for it, it's the dressing, I think.  All it is is salad dressing, mustard, sweet relish, sugar, salt and pepper.  You can put anything you want in it.  I don't know why it always turns out so good, I can only say it's the dressing.

Thanks for the information, I will see if I can do it.  I have to read it again and see what all you ate and drank again.  I do appreciate it and I'm really taken with the weight you lost.  Thanks.

Maggie - You asked about weight loss and Type 2 Diabetes

This was in my blog, second day here on blogit, ask any questions you like, if I can do it so can you and anyone.  My best to you dear lady.

Weighty Words

Flexing our brains is as important as flexing our physical muscles and that’s what I’ve had to do since May of 2006. I’m surprised at the plethora of messages I’ve received from people asking me how I lost 100 pounds.

To answer you all, it was extremely difficult but easy at the same time. You enjoy oxy-moron’s? I’m smiling. Simply put. I was ready.

My past was arduous and I had a long road to travel in an effort to open up the baggage, spill the contents and examine every piece of the vehicle. While some of the mechanics were relatively easy to solve, others sent me further into the land of denial and fantasy. And I became, ‘sicker’. However, under the surface, through counselling and the support of a very, dear friend; they were my oils lubricating every part of my head, heart and soul to the point where one day I just woke up. Literally.

It happened that one day in May 2006 during the demise of my second marriage. I looked in the mirror and saw that I had a black eye and a four inch scar from under my bottom lid, across my cheek and toward my chin. I also had two deep cuts on my right leg where I'd tripped over the opened drawer to my writing desk in the sun room and fell head first into a brass, floor lamp. When I looked at my writing room I also saw that I had put out a cigarette in an air purifier vent. I was on depression medication to wake me up, night medication to put me to sleep, Type 2 diabetes medication to regulate my blood sugar, cholesterol medication, blood pressure medication, heart medication, baby aspirin and alcohol. I was two hundred and forty seven pounds. And I realized that I was killing myself.

I took myself off all medication (my doctor’s told me not to because I was too, ‘sick’) paid attention to what I was eating, walked 15,000 steps per day and swam in my pool. By the time August rolled around the drugs were all out of my system and I joined a weight-loss program at my gym here in Cornwall, called, "Physical Limits". I was down to 190 pounds. I used the treadmill, the bike and followed their diet recommendations which was based on 1,000 calories per day. I won’t write out all the foods I was allowed to have, rather the foods that I did have every day.

Morning: Coffee and a protein shake.

Lunch: Protein shake and field greens (as much as I wanted) with olive oil, grey sea salt and pepper.

Dinner: 200 grams of lean meat or shrimp, crab, lobster or white fish. I varied with stir fries....asparagus, spinach, yellow zucchini, green beans, bean sprouts, ginger or garlic, tomatoes, cucumbers and field greens.

Snacks: 100 grams of soy nuts.

I also drank a lot of mineral water. When I was home, this is what I ate every day. When I went out for dinner at friends’ homes or restaurants, I ate what pretty much what I wanted to except for pasta, breads and potatoes. Stayed away from the ‘white’ foods as much as possible.

By the time I left in October for my 6-month, ‘mid-life crisis’ (that’ll be another blog entry for some other day) in Florida, I was 175 pounds. People ask me, ‘wasn’t it hard?’ No. It wasn’t hard because I was ready to hurt. I wanted to hurt. I wanted to feel all the pain within that vehicle of denial. Through that whole process, I discovered many parts of myself that I’d never even had a clue that I possessed, let alone my own operator’s manual teaching me how to drive forward on the road to healing and health.

And now, I’m flexing my muscles every day through words and exercise, I’m just returned from my 6 month sojourn in Florida, blonde-on-blonde, my diabetes is under control, I’m in AA, and I’m a sultry, 149 pounds!

P.S.  I'm now 140 on the 8th of May!  Woo-hoo!  Maggie, no fruit on this diet, either.  I'll dig out the list of other veggies you can have.  You can use any herb or spice you want too.  It was fantastic!

MaggieMae, I can understand you not writing because you are a perfectionist
But from your emails and the way you ve written here you have the ability to express yourself in an articulate and interesting way.  Thats why I like blogit because I tend to write straight from the heart without editing or worrying too much about how I sound or whether my grammer and spelling is perfect.  I know that if I had to write professionally Id have to be so much more careful.  So Im in no hurry to put myself under that sort of stress.  Hope you had a good sleep .  Much love to you MaggieMae.  Helen

proc..........I still don't know the time difference. lol

I enjoy your writings and you deserve the comments and smiles.  That family of your's just wears you out and you take it so well.  lol

I'm happy when I can find something funny and pass it along to all the bloggers.  Laughter is so good for the soul and I love to laugh.  I'm not a writer, it just doesn't come to me anymore.  When I was younger, I thought maybe I had some talent, but it's not with me now.  I've tried, but to no avail.  All my life, I've been a perfectionist and I guess I still am.  If it's not right, it's in the trash it goes.  I love to be in touch with everybody and my jokes and little stories I find have to be the way I do it.  I envy all of you and your ability to write.

I'm glad I met you, Helen, and I enjoy your blogs. God bless.
