afzal
as much as we all want that to happen, men could not sway from the desire to be greater than others.

Hi Afzal - good to read these two similar ideas from Koran and Bible.
The second extract, the parable of the good and bad soil, though, perhaps partly explains the many problems the human race faces. Although the reference is meant to be a spiritual one rather than literally about seeds and soil, nonetheless if there is good and bad soil - and there is, i.e. fertile land and barren land, then this is a cause of conflict. People have always fought over the good land and the losers have ended up pushed out. Today of course, the good land is likely to mean good property in a good district of town, rather than fertile soil. However, as I said before, I think it's more about spiritual and personal growth than population growth or prosperity, and to grow spiritually we must do the right things to enable that to happen. 'Bad soil' would be a preoccupation with accumulation of wealth, and 'good soil' would be caring about other people, especially the less fortunate.

Afzal
You are right. I think many may be on the wrong path. The unfortunate truth is that no one path is right for everyone, and we kinda have to find our own way to love and light.
