Should you be afraid to be a Muslim?
In an ideal world no, but in this day and age we can't help being afraid. During the Lebanese Civil war in the 70's , the millitias started what was know as Killing By ID , it meant that they took one look at your ID to find out your faith or sect and that would determine whether you would live or die. Sad but true. No matter how many kind people tell you that you should not be afraid, one has to admit that there has never been a worse time to be a Muslim except perhaps the times of the Inquisition. We have to bear part of the blame because we let our faith be hijacked by the narrow-minded, we have let the fanatics become the poster boys of Islam while the existence of millions of enlightened, peace loving and tolerant Muslims goes unacknowledged. You should be afraid, but not because you are a Muslim, but because few know what real Islam is about.

Strongly and well said, Afzal
No, there shouldn't be fear in any sense of the word of God, but we mortals seem to need to test His mercy and grace, some greatly more than others...Divisions, superiority of religion, greed, war, the very opposites of the truths placed in our souls.

A few sayings of my Teacher:

I have come not to disturb or destroy any faith, but to confirm each in his own faith - so that the Christian becomes a better Christian, the Muslim, a better Muslim, and the Hindu, a better Hindu.

There is only one religion, the religion of Love;
There is only one language, the language of the Heart;
There is only one caste, the caste of Humanity;
There is only one law, the law of Karma;
There is only one God, He is Omnipresent.

Start the Day with Love;
Spend the Day with Love;
Fill the Day with Love;
End the Day with Love;
This is the way to God.

No
Why should we fear for the things we believe.

How strong is your faith in the religion U embrace.

It will determine the level of your fear or no fear.
