looks like the bloggers here are not happy for war nor its costs.  And in addition to the money spent, one must also ad up the destruction to cities, and the very earth that sustains our lives.  God help us, and we best keep praying and striving for peace.

Unfortunately, since almost the very beginning there have been wars.  Power, money and greed.  Starts mostly in the sandbox if you ask me.  --Joy!Mary

You ask pertinent and piercing questions.  My answer is

.  l.  Intolerance to others

  2.  Greed

The Creator wants us to live as brothers and we are the ones who decide we are not brothers and sisters because we look different or we pray differently. My heritage, USA, has been an eyeopener as we accept all faiths and let people worship, even when it almost burdens us to distraction.

We must seek peace, that is our survival.

Best to you,

Lou

I read all these fine statements. I did not see one of them offer solutions to our having been attacked several times by those we are fighting, It was not only twin towers but all the way back to the death of Bobby Kennedy and before. Can someone tell me how you will keep the Radical Muslims from attacking us? Also I would like to see more blogs about all those that are being fed, clothed, visited and taken to doctors as well as being given free surgery, and other medical care by Christians. Does anybody ever address those things?

Some people (and companies) make a lot of money off of war. I guess they don't see the same profits in peace.

Plus war enables governments to take liberties (powers) citizens might normally deny them. The government scares the populace into submitting to whatever the government does in the name of "defense". War gives nation-states the opportunity to take territory and resources they might otherwise have to negotiate for.

There are more wars than those fought with armies
and the danger of letting tyrants go unchecked is to extend all kinds of war.

It all comes down to one thing...the government has it's own interests in mind.  They don't really care much about the poor. They'd rather see them die off.
They'd rather put their money into something that is going to make them rich or powerful.

"On September 7th, 2003, President Bush announced on national television that he was going to ask the Congress to grant him an additional $87 billion dollars for the fiscal year, beginning October 1, 2004, to continue the fight on terror in Iraq and Afghanistan. Since before then, to the end of September, 2007, the United States has dedicated approximately $315 billion dollars to the cause."

How many starving, homeless people could $315,000,000,000 feed, clothe & house?   It boggles the mind.

Afzal,
people are crazy creatures. They always like to spend more money on war than on peace... amazing, actually. Possibly there is no money to be gained on peace.

afzal, it boggles the mind that BILLIONS get spent on war, but hunger
and poverty and disease seem to go unnoticed..we'll pay for it all eventually, one way or another...
