I don't know about the word virtual - it immediately associates communication via the web with a kind of fiction or unreality. Some of the most virtual interactions I've seen in my life have actually occurred between people face to face, breathing the same air.. words exchanged but there's something not quite real about the whole thing.. virtual in fact. I don't know I'm just ruminating as I was in the post.

When I was going off traveling I closed down my Blogit account--
and finally closed all but one blog, to save a few dollars, but I did save all the others. It is useful to go back now and then to see what I was writing and how I was writing long times back-- sometimes very embarrassing, too... (there's that notebook from high school with my Man From UNCLE fan stories...

Good suggestion on backing up posts
I alredy have done th Afghan blogs (for my book). I do enjoy gfoing back and reding what was happening in my life and what I was writing about on Blogit.

Rob,
I certainly didn't mean to drop out so abruptly...It's just that at this point in time, there's really no way (or, at least if there is, I've not yet found it) to talk about what's been going on with me.
I'm not sure I'll ever be able to talk about it here, but if I can I will. The reason I had to go has NOTHING to do with anyone here.
I miss you all very much and hope to be able to come back soon.
As for backing up old posts...I'm not sure that would be such a good thing for me to do...It may land me in a big heap of trouble!!

The (virtual) sense of community
can be found here. Perhaps bloggers move on as they find that community in reality. And that's a good thing...!
