Marie-Claire This is nice. Acknowleging the greatest of life's pleasures

the simple ones. This reminds me of that song Summer Breeze by Seals and Croft

SUMMER BREEZE

See the curtains hangin' in the window
In the evening on a Friday night
A little light-a-shinin' through the window
Let's me know everything's all right

Summer breeze makes me feel fine
Blowin' through the jasmine in my mind

See the paper layin' on the sidewalk
A little music from the house next door
So I walk on up to the door step
Through the screen and across the floor

Sweet days of summer - the jasmine's in bloom
July dressed up and playing her tune
And I come home from a hard day's work
And you're waitin' there
Not a care in the world

See the smile awaitin in the kitchen
Food cookin' and the plates for two
Feel the arms that reach out to hold me
In the evening when the day is through

Something a little different.. you picture the scene so clearly. And isn't Taps's comment wonderful?

Reminiscent of the movie "Shirley Valentine" - one of my favorites, by the way.  What a wonderfully vivid picture of a breakfast table shared by two people who know almost every move of the other.  Beautiful!

Scrambled, well done with crisp bacon and a toasted English muffin, black coffee and, oh yes, freshly ground coarse black pepper on the egg please.   Sunday morning with a pretty blue sky, a Sunday paper and fresh squeezed orange juice.  It good to have a man in the kitchen who knows what he's doing and likes doing it.  Thank you dear Twinkletoes.

Eggcellent, MC.
I shouldn't make light of it, because it's a very sobering and somewhat sinister poem, very good indeed. I have to admit, it almost made me want a 'full English breakfast.' What do they call it over there - a full NZ breakfast? Bacon, eggs, sausages, beans, toast etc etc. Yum.
