you are dealing here with one of my pet peeves! (I've got a few more, as you know, lol.) I especially resent what the she-pedemic has done to the language, having contributed mightily to the PC plague. To quote myself, (from an earlier post) "...what is unprecedented is that never before the emergence of PC has there been a time when the ‘rules’ of how to speak ‘correctly’ were
prescriptive! [Dictionaries are
decriptive.] Never before has there been a concerted, organized and ultimately state-sponsored attempt to ‘clean up’ the language, to render it ‘safe’ and ‘inoffensive."

It's great, Ariel, that you're pointing out the injustice of stereotyping
men, lumping them all in one category. I've dated several guys who partially fit some of those labels we use -- hounds, chasers, posers, guys pretend to listen...
I can't resist pointing out that many gay guys are neither sensitive nor feminine. My youngest, who's gay, could easily be mistaken for a jock -- short haircut, not exactly cut but in decent physical shape. I have three other sons, straight, and no two of these guys are alike. They disagree about politics, one's an extreme right-wing conservative, another's a blatant liberal, so we see some interesting email debates. Two of them boycott WalMart, one works for them. But they all respect women, "warts and all." Two have wives they cherish, one is divorced from a really mean, alcoholic harpie, but he's brave enough to give his heart again. And my youngest is in a stable ten-year relationship.
