I think one always needs love; however, if one has plenty from a through d we can confidently draw love to us the balance of the way by the very fact that we confidently give off love and care to others.

afzal, I think all of the above, with maybe "A" being the most important...
a baby in the womb can sense if he/she is wanted and loved or not...this will influence their entire life

I don't know if it's essential but it makes life more pleasant

Blox 008 ~ Against the Bright Blue
Thanx for the comment!... As for "love", yes in general, it is definitely preferred throughout all phases of life... However, I don't quite agree that it's as "essential" as food and water... It feels more like a "language" or expression. An abundance of it fosters communication and contact and bonding with others, while a lack of it leads to isolation and separation even distrust and hate of others... One who knows it, may die of heartbreak, but one who's never known it, will never miss it... In many ways, the idea of love is thrown about too easily, and is more complex, more layered, and more colored, than many people seem to realize...

For example, one aspect that hasn't been addressed, is the "love" must always be tempered with reason and practicality... A love of country may conflict with a love a religion. A love of wife may conflict with a love of family. A forbidden love of a girl may conflict with a love of social traditions and laws. Or taking your previous entry, even a "love" of one good friend may conflict with the "loyalty" towards another friend... There are many balances and decisions, perhaps more than we care to admit, but they are there... Is that where "loyalty" differs from "love"? The ability to decide? Is that where love's natural opposites of fear, jealousy, and hate emerge? Because someone or something else is chosen over oneself?... Hopefully, our reason and rationality will help us curb and calm these unpredictable, but very human, waters...

I believe it is conception, pregnancy, birth and the first year or two that is the time when love is most needed. That is our deepest root of being and if we are not loved well and with "spiritual intelligence" by the parents we will be various shades of neurotic and have a deep sense of "wrongness" in our being. I firmly believe that if this was the absolute priority with people and society, there would not be a "need" for love past the age of three or so. That's not to say that there would be no love, rather that the evolutionary expectations, billions of yeard old, are fulfilled so the next stage of a soul's life is ready to bloom. It is a tragedy that this is such a rare case these days and most of us have a flaw on our being that nothing can really touch.

Love is essential, even as air and water. Giving as well as getting!

Depends on how you define need.
That's a lawyer's answer, huh?

Love Thyself
Yes, love is always needed.Having respect and belief in ourselves makes us more apprciative of the ove from others. It helps to absorb the love without animosity and casues us to look to the good intentions of those around us.

I would extend this to pre-birth and post-life: a greta LOVE brings birth &

after that, LOVE sustains us and the departed beings with prayer and remembrance.

Good questions. Bets wishes to you and your LOVE/S.

Shalom and Salaam. Neil

We need love
at every stage, each one you listed...and it's been my experience that when we give it away, we do receive love in return. I'm not saying a person doesn't get hurt from time to time. I'm merely saying in my life, I find giving love is freeing and joyful. It causes smiles and warmth between humans, and that is truly a blessing.

We always need love. Its the one thing you never have less of no matter how much you give away.nice one

love should be for all the right reasons not just seeking someone to love because you didnt get love as a child, love needs a lot to make it grow and make it work.  Dont confuse the two :love and desperation to be loved

Afzal

I think love is important to have in every stage of your life, but regardless if you have had a loving and nurturing childhood or not.....you should learn to love yourself because it will be difficult for others to love you when you do not love and accept yourself. Love is one of the important states to be in and emit to all people all around us the love we have for ourselves and others. Regardless if you are in love with a particular person........it is important to feel love towards people, our country, our world, l choose to think that we live in a loving world. There are a lot of acts of kindness shown by loving people throughout the world.

I chose to focus on the loving actions and intentions of these kind of people and the positivity that brings to my life and world.
