I fit your description...
...and what I did was clean her car off and shovel a path all around it. It's probably just a common act of decency, but the fact it happened to snow 2 feet today, on Valentine's Day, makes it look better. Besides, it was ridiculously cold out and the snow was drifting and hitting me in the face the whole time...Yeah, okay, well I did get her a gift cert. to a local Spa/Salon for $50 too, but I gave that to her before.

giver her a slap on the back and jump in the sack!
All seriousness aside, if you have to wait until a commercial holiday to show your love, then you don't have much to show for it anyway, and no amount of extravegant presents will make up for what you hold back each and every day of your lives.

Afzal
I have at times made my own cards and gifts, reguardless of whether I've had money or not.  I've also promised late gifts in the past. It all depends on what the circumstances are.
Usually I decide what I want to do for the occasion, and I do it...eventually, even if it is late. Which sometimes it is, if I don't have the money, or even just because I procrastinate.
